John is an accomplished lyricist and published wordsmith who has finally turned his ‘way with words’ into a musical marvel, taking otherwise straightforward melodies and transforming them into verbal images that attempt to glorify God. Russell Thorburn is a recipient of a National Endowment Fellowship and the first poet laureate of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He lives in Marquette, where he sometimes performs with his sextet Radio On.
